A new liquor store is going to be built in Salt Lake City’s Sugar House neighborhood, according to the Utah Department of Alcoholic Beverage Services (DABS).
The store will be built at 815 E. 2100 South. The building currently houses a tattoo shop and a smoke shop, and is located between Guthrie Bicycle and American Rust, an antique store.
DABS spokesperson Michelle Schmitt said the store’s footprint will be the space between the antique store and bike shop, as well as the parking lot to the north.
A construction start date hasn’t been decided on yet. Schmitt said the DABS is in the “very beginning phases of the process now.”
The new liquor store would replace the current Sugar House liquor store, at 1154 S. Ashton Ave.
Schmitt said the DABS had been looking for a new store location for several years before deciding on the 2100 South spot.
“This location fits the footprint and location needs for a new Sugar House liquor store,” Schmitt said.
