A Salt Lake City pub has some of the best vegan wings in the country, according to a national animal-rights organization.

People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals — best known for its protests against animal cruelty — has named Piper Down Pub as one of the 10 best places in the country to order vegan wings. The pub sits at 1492 S. State St. in Salt Lake City.

PETA’s president, Tracy Reiman, said in a statement Wednesday that Piper Down “is leveling up gameday nosh with its delicious spicy tiger wings, which are as finger-licking good as they are kind to chickens.”

Piper Down has an extensive vegan menu, alongside its more traditional pub food.

Its vegan wings are available with a choice of sauces: spicy buffalo, teriyaki, orange chicken, barbecue, agave sriracha or Cajun, plus a lemon-pepper dry rub. They also come with carrots, celery and a vegan ranch dressing.

The pub will receive a framed certificate denoting the award, PETA said in its announcement. The certificate refers to Piper Down’s vegan wings as “a Super Bowl party MVP that scores big for flavor and bigger for the chickens who get to keep their feathers.”
