Have these Utah restaurants cook your Christmas feast for you

Some restaurants will be serving sumptuous buffets, while others will be having sit-down dinners.

Making a Christmas dinner is hard work. After all, a feast worthy of the closing scene of “The Muppet Christmas Carol” doesn’t just happen. And who wants to go to all that work when you’d rather relax in your coziest pajamas, drink hot cocoa and enjoy your Christmas presents?

This year, let the professionals cook Christmas dinner for you. There are dozens of Utah restaurants and food vendors with special menus and deals for Christmas dinner, many that you wouldn’t see outside of the holidays. There’s bound to be an option that will make even the pickiest Scrooge happy.

Some restaurants are taking reservations, and those that aren’t filled already will be booked up soon. And anyone planning to buy takeout should get their orders in as soon as possible.

The Salt Lake Tribune — with some help from the folks at the food website Gastronomic SLC (with whom The Tribune has a content-sharing agreement) — has compiled this list of restaurants and foodmakers with deals for Christmas feasts, both for takeout and dine-in.

Takeout (Salt Lake County)

Arlo • 271 Center St., Salt Lake City, 385-266-8845; ArloRestaurant.com • Arlo is accepting preorders for a Christmas take-home meal kit, which includes all the sides needed for a Christmas Day or Christmas Eve dinner, plus dessert and a beverage. The kit feeds four to six people, and the last day to preorder is Dec. 20. Pickup is Saturday, Dec. 24th between 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. Price is $225.

Beltex Meats • 511 E. 900 South, Salt Lake City, 801-532 2641; BeltexMeats.com • Beltex is accepting preorders for Christmas meats, including leg of lamb, beef tenderloin and others. A deposit of $50 is due upon purchase, and the balance is due at pickup, which is Thursday-Saturday, Dec. 21-23, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., or Sunday, Dec. 24, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
