Kyle Whittingham has been a Michigan man for four months now.

But the former legendary Ute head coach’s impact is still being felt in the state.

West High School four-star quarterback Kamden Lopati committed to Michigan this week after decommitting from Illinois, ESPN reported.

Lopati received offers from Power Four programs across the country, including Arizona, Arizona State and the Utes. He’s ranked as the No. 2 player in the state and No. 9 quarterback nationally according to 247Sports’ Composite Rankings.

His commitment doesn’t come as a surprise, especially since Whittingham’s staff is composed of both former Utah and BYU assistants.

In the transfer portal, Michigan lured several Utah playmakers to Ann Arbor, including cornerback Smith Snowden, wide receiver JJ Buchanan and All-American defensive end John Henry Daley.
