Utah quarterback Devon Dampier will be back next season.
And he expects to be fully healthy.
Dampier had surgery earlier this month to repair a sports hernia he suffered during the third week of the season, multiple sources told The Salt Lake Tribune.
The Utes’ quarterback led his team to a 31-6 win over Wyoming that week and dealt with the injury for the rest of the season, one source said. Dampier expects to be ready to participate in spring practices, the source said.
The sources were granted anonymity because they did not have permission to speak publicly on the matter.
Despite being hampered by multiple injuries last year, Dampier finished the 2025 season with 2,490 passing yards, 24 passing touchdowns, five interceptions and a 63.5% completion rate. He also rushed the ball 146 times for 835 yards and 10 touchdowns.
On Tuesday, Dampier announced he was returning to Utah to play his senior season. The quarterback had weighed the possibility of transferring after former Utah head coach Kyle Whittingham and offensive coordinator Jason Beck left the program.
