Utah earned a commitment from four-star offensive tackle Kelvin Obot on Tuesday afternoon.
He chose the Utes over offers from Michigan, Oregon, Nebraska and Michigan State. With Obot’s commitment, he now is the highest-ranked recruit in Utah’s 2026 high school recruiting class and the 14th overall pledge in the cycle.
Hailing from Fruitland High School in Idaho, Obot is ranked as the No. 9 offensive tackle in the class and the No. 131 best player in the nation, according to 247Sports Composite Rankings.
Utah’s recruiting class now ranks at 58th in the nation and 12th in the Big 12, just ahead of conference rivals Oklahoma State, UCF, Houston and Colorado, according to 247Sports. BYU, the Utes’ in-state rival, leads all programs in the conference, led by the marquee commitment of five-star quarterback Ryder Lyons.
Obot now joins three-star commits running back LaMarcus Bell, defensive end Preston Pitts, quarterback Michael Johnson, middle linebacker LaGary Mitchell, cornerback Major Hinchen and safety Carter Stewart as the headline recruits of Utah’s 2026 class.
The four-star offensive tackle will look to be one of Utah’s next great offensive tackles, following the likes of Spencer Fano and Caleb Lomu, who were two of the best linemen in the country a season ago.
