Utah sophomore MyKayla Skinner finished the regular season the same way she started it — as the Pac-12 gymnast of the week.
It marks the fifth Gymnast of the Week award this season for Skinner,who is the Pac-12 record-holder for most gymnast of the week awards with 12 in just two seasons.
Skinner led the league in gymnast of the week awards for her second year in a row, this time beating out Elizabeth Price of Stanford (3). Last year, Skinner set thePac-12 record with seven Gymnast of the Week awards.
In last week’s 198.150-196.350 win over Georgia — Utah’s largest margin of victory over its SEC rival since1995 — Skinner won the all-around (39.725), beam (9.95) and bars (9.925).She also tied her season high on floor with a 9.975 to place second.
Skinner is the No. 2 ranked all-arounder in the country. Her 39.725 all-around score against Georgia was the best in the Pac-12 last week and tied the seventh-best score in school history. It was her 19th career all-around win, placing her second on Utah’s all-time career charts. She now has 28 individual titles this season and 71 in her career.
