Abel Porter knew the 2019-20 season would be his last at Utah State. What was unclear, however, was whether he’d hang up his basketball shoes or try his luck somewhere else for his final year of college eligibility.

Porter answered the question Saturday when he announced on Twitter that he had committed to Ohio State.

Porter played four years for the Aggies. This past season, he averaged 5.6 points, 3.2 assists and 2.4 rebounds in 25.7 minutes per game — all career highs. He played in a total of 94 games and started 55.

The Buckeyes finished No. 19 in the Associated Press Top 25 poll for the 2019-20 season, which was cut short for the entire country when many conference tournaments and the NCAA Tournament were canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The highest poll ranking Ohio State held last season was No. 2 on Dec. 23, per Basketball Reference.
