The Utah Mammoth are set to trade forward JJ Peterka to the Boston Bruins, according to league sources, granted anonymity to speak about talks that aren’t public. The return is not yet known.

The 24-year-old left-shot forward fills a major need for the Bruins. Peterka scored 25 goals and 22 assists in 82 games while averaging 15:59 of ice time per appearance this past season.

Peterka has four years remaining on his contract at $7.7 million annually. He was originally a second-round pick of the Buffalo Sabres in 2020. The Sabres traded Peterka to the Mammoth for Josh Doan and Michael Kesselring on June 26, 2025.

The Bruins targeted an upgrade in speed and skill on the wing this offseason. Peterka could be the No. 2 right wing behind David Pastrnak. Acquiring Peterka could have an effect on re-signing Viktor Arvidsson, who played on the right side on the second line next to Casey Mittelstadt and Pavel Zacha in 2025-26. Arvidsson will be an unrestricted free agent on July 1.
