After winning the Major League Soccer championship last year, the LA Galaxy have suffered through a historically bad season in 2025.

But the Galaxy finally got their first win of the campaign on Saturday night in Carson, Calif., defeating Real Salt Lake 2-0 to improve to 1-12-4.

The victory ends the Galaxy’s 16-game winless streak, an MLS record to start a season.

Meanwhile, RSL (4-9-4) stumbled into the league’s FIFA international break on a seven-game winless streak.

The Galaxy’s Lucas Sanabria scored the opening goal in the 17th minute, with assists from John Nelson and Matheus Nascimento.

The Galaxy’s Joseph Paintsil scored in the 55th minute to make it 2-0.

RSL had a 19-10 edge in shots in the game, but the Galaxy had a 5-4 advantage in shots on goal.

LA goalkeeper Novak Micovic made four saves, while RSL’s Rafael Cabral had three.

Real Salt Lake is scheduled to return to action on June 14 in Sandy against D.C. United (7:30 p.m., Apple TV).
