Real Salt Lake gets fast start in win over Houston

Real Salt Lake scored in the first minute and went on to beat the host Houston Dynamo 2-1 in a Major League Soccer game on Saturday.

RSL’s Diogo Gonçalves scored just 43 seconds into the game. Diego Luna got the transition started, and Emeka Eneli made a perfect pass from the left side to the center of the box, where Gonçalves put it in the net.

Real Salt Lake improved to 2-2-0 with the win, while Houston fell to 0-3-1.

Houston’s Ezequiel Ponce evened the score in the 16th minute off a perfectly placed ball from Jack McGlynn on a free kick.

Luna scored on a header off a pass from Dominik Marczuk in first-half stoppage time to give RSL a 2-1 lead.

Houston had a 16-10 advantage in shots in the game, but RSL had a 5-2 edge in shots on goal.

Houston goalkeeper Andrew Tarbell had three saves in the game, while RSL’s Rafael Cabral had one.

Real Salt Lake will return to action against FC Dallas on Saturday, March 22, at 7:30 p.m. at America First Field in Sandy.
