Reserves-heavy RSL ties Eintracht Frankfurt in international friendly

Sandy • Real Monarchs’ Andrew Brody, called up for Tuesday’s game, scored in the first half off a pass from Joao Plata as Real Salt Lake tied German Bundesliga club Eintracht Frankfurt 1-1 in an international friendly at Rio Tinto Stadium.

Plata took a long pass and settled it on the left wing, then crossed a pass into the penalty box where Brody was able to one-time it into the goal against Frankfurt, which finished eighth in the Bundesliga last season.

Nicolai Müller scored in second-half stoppage time for Frankfurt to earn the tie.

RSL used the opportunity to give several reserves extensive playing time, with only Luis Silva and Aaron Herrera having played in Saturday’s 2-0 victory against FC Dallas. RSL returns to MLS action at 6 p.m. Saturday with a game at Minnesota United.
