RSL in transfer talks with Paraguayan winger Osmar Leguizamón
(Leah Hogsten | The Salt Lake Tribune) Real Salt Lake fans celebrate the Rocky Mountain Cup win with Real Salt Lake goalkeeper Nick Rimando (18). Real Salt Lake defeated the Colorado Rapids 4-1 for the Rocky Mountain Cup at Rio Tinto Stadium, Saturday, August 26, 2017.
Real Salt Lake is in talks with Paraguayan winger Osmar Leguizamón, The Tribune confirmed Friday.
Paraguayan radio station ABC Cardinal first reported the possible transfer.
The station’s website quoted Leguizamón’s representation, Jani Delmás, saying Leguizamón was headed for MLS after the conclusion of negotiations. Leguizamón is currently on loan to Sportivo Luqueño of Paraguay’s Primera División from Club Olimpia.
A source confirmed to The Tribune that contact has been made between player representatives and RSL, but no deal has been finalized.
The MLS summer transfer window doesn’t open until July 10. Deals can be completed outside of the transfer window, but players cannot be added to a club’s official roster prior to the receipt of an International Transfer Certificate, which MLS can only requested inside the transfer window.
