Syracuse High School runner Hunter Woodhall claimed a bronze medal Thursday in the 400 meters of the Paralympics, adding to the silver medal he earned in the 200 in Rio de Janeiro. In the T43/44 double-amputee classification, the same three runners won medals in the 400 as in the 200, with New Zealand's Liam Malone sweeping the races.
Malone posted a world-record time of 46.2 seconds to edge Germany's David Behre (46.23), with Woodhall third at 46.7. Woodhall, who runs with prosthetic legs, won the 400 in the Class 5A state high school meet in May.
