Washington's NFL team says quarterback Robert Griffin III will miss Saturday's exhibition game at the Baltimore Ravens because of a concussion, reversing an earlier decision to let him play.

In a statement released Friday by Washington, NFL independent neurologist Robert Kurtzke is quoted as saying that Griffin "should be held from gameplay this weekend and be retested in one [to] two weeks before a firm conclusion to return to gameplay can be made."

Griffin left last week's exhibition game against Detroit with what Washington coach Jay Gruden said afterward was a concussion. Washington announced Thursday that Griffin had been cleared to play this weekend.

Friday night, Griffin tweeted: "Trusting in God even when I don't understand why certain things happen."

So far, Griffin is 6 for 13 for 44 yards in two preseason appearances, and Washington has not scored a touchdown with him on the field. Against Detroit, Griffin left after four series, going 2 for 5 with two fumbles, three sacks and a few other big hits.

In relief of Griffin, Kirk Cousins went 8 for 12, and Colt McCoy went 5 for 6, with both completing a touchdown pass.

Broncos sign rookie tight end Light

The "Gronk of the Bronx" might just become the "Gronk of the Broncos."

Dan Light, the Fordham tight end with the catchy moniker, signed with Denver on Friday.

Light (6-5, 265 pounds) caught 177 passes for 1,594 yards and nine touchdowns during his four-year college career.

He led all FCS tight ends with 66 catches as a junior but his draft stock plunged when he tore a knee ligament against Army last November.

To make room, the Broncos waived receiver/returner Solomon Patton, who was claimed off waivers from Tampa Bay in May.

Patton got off to a great start in camp, returning punts and kickoffs and making big plays at receiver before muffing a punt at Seattle and falling behind his competition.

Titan's charge reduced

The felony charge against Tennessee receiver Justin Hunter has been reduced to a misdemeanor count of assault and battery. Hunter had been facing a felony charge of malicious wounding that stemmed from a late-night fight at the a Virginia Beach bar during the July Fourth weekend, according to police.
