El Segundo, Calif. • Los Angeles Lakers forward Julius Randle will be re-evaluated in two weeks after needing seven stitches to close a cut on his right hand.

The Lakers announced Randle's injury Tuesday.

The team says Randle was hurt while practicing this week. He opened up a large cut in the webbing between his middle and ring fingers.

Randle averaged 11.3 points, 10.2 rebounds and 1.8 assists last year for the Lakers in a promising first full NBA season.

His rookie season ended after 14 minutes in October 2014 when he broke his leg in the Lakers' season opener.
