Another Utah Jazz starter is out for the rest of the NBA season

Center Jusuf Nurkic is undergoing season-ending surgery.

(Rick Egan | The Salt Lake Tribune) Minnesota Timberwolves center Rudy Gobert (27) is guarded by Utah Jazz center Jusuf Nurkic (30) at the Delta Center on Jan 20, 2026. Nurkic will miss the rest of the NBA season.

Utah Jazz center Jusuf Nurkic will undergo surgery on his nose and miss the remainder of the season, The Salt Lake Tribune has confirmed.

The news was first reported on Monday by NBA TV.

Nurkic had a career revival in Salt Lake City this year, averaging a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds a game. It was his highest production output since 2023.

Nurkic is an unrestricted free agent this offseason, coming off a four-year, $70 million deal.

Nurkic is the third Jazz starter ruled out for the season. Jaren Jackson Jr. underwent knee surgery last week for a non-cancerous growth. And center Walker Kessler’s season ended with a torn labrum in early November.

Second-year player Kyle Filipowski will likely step into a bigger role with Nurkic’s absence. He’s averaging 9.9 points and 6.6 rebounds in 22 minutes a night.
