John Collins, Norman Powell, Kevin Love traded in three-team deal with Jazz, Clippers and Heat

The Jazz are acquiring Kevin Love, Kyle Anderson and a 2027 Clippers second-round pick.

(Trent Nelson | The Salt Lake Tribune) Utah Jazz forward John Collins (20) as the Utah Jazz host the Oklahoma City Thunder, NBA basketball in Salt Lake City on Friday, April 11, 2025.

The Utah Jazz have traded veteran forward John Collins to the Los Angeles Clippers.

In the three-team deal, which also involved the Miami Heat:

• The Jazz received veterans Kevin Love, Kyle Anderson and the Clippers’ 2027 second-round draft pick.

• The Heat acquired guard Norman Powell from L.A.

• The Clippers received Collins from the Jazz.

Collins, 27, had a bounceback season for the Jazz in 2024-25 after struggling in his initial Utah campaign the year prior. While he played in just 40 games — largely as the Jazz sat him while they chased a higher draft pick — the Wake Forest product averaged 19 points and eight rebounds per game on terrific efficiency numbers.

But the Jazz didn’t want to sit healthy players again this season. New President of Basketball Operations Austin Ainge said as much upon taking over. So instead, the Jazz have traded for Anderson and Love, easier players to trade or buy out, given their smaller contracts.

Love, 36, is a five-time All-Star who has spent the last three seasons with the Heat, mostly coming off the bench. Still a good rebounder, Love’s offense has fallen off in recent years.

Anderson, meanwhile, is a 31-year-old wing nicknamed “Slo Mo” for his lack of footspeed. He played only the second half of the season for the Heat after being acquired in the Jimmy Butler trade, but is known for his intelligent play on both ends. He has two years left on a contract that pays him $9.3 million per year, but the final year is non-guaranteed.
