Weber State’s Dillon Jones taken in the first round of the NBA Draft
Jones is on his way to Oklahoma City after a stellar career for the Wildcats.
(Weber State) Wildcats star Dillon Jones was named the Big Sky Conference's MVP this season after leading the league in scoring, rebounding and assists.
Dillon Jones is the latest Weber State Wildcat to find his way to the NBA.
Jones, a fourth-year junior who scored 20 points per game in the Big Sky Conference last year, was selected No. 26 by the New York Knicks. The Knicks, though, immediately forwarded his rights onto the Oklahoma City Thunder in exchange for a whopping five second-round picks.
Jones will join a talented, young Oklahoma City team that finished as the best team in the Western Conference last year.
The selection will see Jones likely make $13.5 million over the course of his four-year rookie contract.
Jones becomes the 12th Weber State player to play in the NBA, but only the second first-round pick along with eight-time All-Star Damian Lillard.
