The Utah Jazz’s regular season has started off like a pumpkin spice latte: hot, spicy and delicious.
(OK, that was cheesy, but you know what I’m getting at.)
This past week, the Jazz got wins over the Houston Rockets, the defending champion Milwaukee Bucks, and a scrappy Sacramento Kings team. Utah did suffer its first loss, though, against the Chicago Bulls. Nevertheless, Quin Snyder’s team is looking good, overall, and now heads on a southeastern road trip starting in Atlanta on Thursday, with stops in Miami and Orlando over the weekend.
In the latest episode of the Tribune’s “How ‘Bout This Jazz” podcast, host/moderator Xoel Cardenas and Jazz beat reporter Andy Larsen break down the most recent games.
The guys also talk Mike Conley, who was out for the Jazz in Chicago last week, getting rest/load management since the team was playing the first of back-to-back games. How can the Jazz not miss a beat when Conley is out due to load management? Does the game plan need to be tweaked each time Donovan Mitchell is asked to play point guard in place of Conley since it’s asking “Spida” to do a bit more?
Xoel and Andy discuss why the Jazz are last in the NBA in passes made. Is this a big deal or is it something Snyder wants from his team? The duo also look ahead to this week’s Jazz schedule and, in particular, preview Utah’s matchup against Jimmy Butler, Bam Adebayo, Tyler Herro and the red hot Miami Heat.
Lastly, inspired by Donovan Mitchell’s recent interview with GQ about the 10 things he can’t live without, Andy tells you what are some of the essentials he takes with him whenever he goes on the road covering the Jazz.
