Jazz point guard Trey Burke has been selected to participate in an NBA exhibition in Africa next week.
The third-year player will join Chris Paul, Marc Gasol, Luol Deng and other NBA stars on Aug. 1 at Ellis Park Arena in Johannesburg, South Africa. The game will be broadcast live on ESPN at 7 a.m. MT.
"I'm honored to be representing the Utah Jazz and Team World in the first-ever NBA game in Africa," Burke said in a press release. "I look forward to not only playing in the game, but also being able to give back during the community outreach activities. This is without a doubt an experience that I will truly cherish."
Burke's participation in those Basketball Without Borders outreach activities includes a clinic that will feature NBA coaches and players, past and present, holding sessions on leadership and health and wellness. The group will also be part of a basketball court dedication on July 30 at a newly built Boys & Girls Club at Protea Glen and a visit to an organization that "builds families for orphaned and abandoned children."
