Each week, the TribPreps staff will choose standout performers and key numbers from the previous week’s action in Utah and showcase them. Here are this week’s picks.

Steven Ashworth

(Tom Wharton | For The Tribune) Steven Ashworth, Lone Peak High.

The Lone Peak senior scored 29 points in the Knights boys’ basketball team’s 87-82 loss to Montverde Academy of Florida in Thursday’s opening round of the GEICO High School Nationals tournament in New York. Ashworth earned a spot on the all-tournament team for his efforts. He went 7 of 14 on 3-pointers and 4 of 4 on free throws in the loss.

Porter Hollingshead

The Beaver senior did a little of everything in the Beavers’ 13-3 win over Milford in baseball action Tuesday. He went 3 for 4 with three RBIs and two runs scored at the plate. Two of his hits were doubles. He struck out six and allowed one earned run over six innings on the mound.

The number of hits allowed by Cyprus pitcher Alexis Poulsen in her team’s 9-0 win over Kearns on Tuesday. The senior struck out 11 in the no-hitter. She followed that with 15 Ks in a 7-6 win over Pleasant Grove on Wednesday.

The number of runs batted in for Lone Peak sophomore Jennifer Trask in the Knights’ 19-18 loss to Westlake in softball action Tuesday. She finished 4 for 5 with a double, triple and two runs scored.

The number of batters struck out by Olympus junior Emma Marchant in the Titans softball team’s 2-1 win over West Jordan on Wednesday. It was her second consecutive game with 14 punchouts. She also struck out 14 in a 12-2 win over Brighton on March 21.
