The senior rolled to his third state title with a 12-2 major decision over Viewmont’s Karson Ree. “A lot of offseason work and not taking days off,” Ricks said about his accomplishment.

Stockton O’Brien, Wasatch

The sophomore held off Viewmont’s Jeremy Evans at 132 pounds to win his second title. “This one means more because I have improved so much since last season,” he said.

Brock Hardy, Box Elder

The senior closed out his remarkable career with a pin of Timpanogos’ Holland Knudsen at 145. “It’s better than the rest,” Hardy said about state No. 4. “It’s been a great career.”

Collin Smith, Viewmont

The senior turned in one of the most exciting performances of the evening. He defeated Maple Mountain’s Zackary Johnson 11-9 with a takedown in the final 10 seconds to win the 170 state title. “I’ve been working for this,” an exhausted Smith said.
