The sophomore rolled into Thursday’s 106-pound semifinals with a pair of wins. He pinned Box Elder’s Wyatt Romriell in the state quarterfinals to reach the semifinals. “It felt really good,” he said. “I wrestled as a freshman, but only weighed 92 pounds, so I didn’t get to wrestle here.”

Jayden Adamson, Skyridge

The junior pinned Skyline’s James Monson in the state 113-pound quarterfinals to punch his ticket to the state semifinal round. “I want to win the matches I can so I can get into the finals,” he said.

Sammy Heywood, Wasatch

The sophomore wore down and pinned Olympus’ Jacob Degraw in the state quarterfinals at 126 pounds. Heywood, who carries a 38-3 mark into Thursday’s state semifinals, credits his team for his success. “Practicing with the right people,” he said.

Isaac Wilcox, Olympus

The soft-spoken junior had one of the more impressive efforts on Day 1. He advanced to the state 160-pound semifinals with a win by technical fall over Timpanogos’ Elijah Kratner, 22-6. “I feel like I’ve been working good and controlling the matches,” he said.
