Each week, the TribPreps staff will choose standout performers and key numbers from the previous week’s action in Utah and showcase them. Here are this week’s picks.

Meagan Jensen, Emery

The junior has been a force for the Spartans girls’ basketball team. She’s averaging 15.8 points, 8.7 rebounds and 2.5 steals for the 19-1 Spartans. She scored eight points, grabbed 10 rebounds and blocked five shots in Emery’s 73-16 win over North Sanpete on Tuesday. She then scored 12 points, snared seven rebounds and blocked three shots in Thursday’s 74-35 win over Manti.

Isaac Wilcox, Olympus

The junior posted four tech falls on his way to victory in Thursday’s Class 5A Divisional A wrestling meet. Those wins moved the 160-pounder’s record to 39-2 entering the state meet. He won the Class 4A state title at 138 pounds last season after finishing third at that weight as a freshman.

Mariah Maile, Viewmont

The junior looks poised for a successful Class 5A state swimming meet. She owns the fastest times in 5A in the 500 freestyle (24.13 seconds) and 100 freestyle (52.02), according to utswimcoach.com’s Class 5A top 50. She’s also third in the 200 freestyle (1:54.07), fourth in the 200 individual medley (2:08.90) and sixth in the 100 backstroke (57.92).

The number of points the Olympus boys’ basketball team averaged per game this week. That’s correct — averaged. First the Titans took down Skyline 106-38 on Tuesday. Jeremy DowDell scored 35 points to lead Olympus in that one. Then the Titans put up 106 again Friday in a 106-60 win over West.

The field-goal shooting percentage for Dixie junior Sina Tapasa in this week’s Flyers girls’ basketball games. The forward went 7 of 11 for 17 points in Tuesday’s 51-34 loss to Pine View before hitting 12 of her 17 attempts for 25 points in Thursday’s 49-46 loss to Canyon View.

The number of assists Rowland Hall boys’ basketball player Trey Provost dished out this week in his team’s two wins. The junior had 10 assists in a 77-44 win over Draper APA on Wednesday then four more in a 106-28 win over Merit Prep on Friday.
