SLC Stars earn first win of season

The Salt Lake City Stars buried 19 3-point shots en route to their first win of the season, a 129-100 rout of the Texas Legends at Bruin Arena on the Salt Lake Community College campus.

The Stars (1-5) got a team-high 30 points from Jermaine Taylor, including four threes. Sundiata Gaines added 26 points and Marcus Paige had 22 — including a team-high five threes. Henry Sims also notched his first double-double of the season with 19 points and 12 rebounds.

The Legends had four players in double figures led by Patrick Miller's 23 points. Manny Harris, the NBA D-League's leading scorer, added 22 points while Jaleel Cousins had 14 points and Andre Dawkins had 12. Former BYU star Kyle Collinsworth contributed nine points, three rebounds, three steals and two assists in 37 minutes.

The Stars got 11 early points by Taylor off the bench to take a 27-26 lead after the first quarter.The Stars extended the lead to 18 points in the second quarter after a three-pointer by Gaines and never looked back.
