BYU guard Kennard Davis was arrested Thursday morning for suspicion of driving under the influence, Provo police said.

Davis, 20, was involved in a car accident near 900 W. Center Street around 11:45 a.m., according to the Provo Police Department. Police said officers suspected Davis had been driving under the influence.

He was taken to the police station and later cited, police said.

Davis was released to receive medical treatment “for minor injuries,” police said, and his car was impounded.

“We are aware of the allegations and looking into the situation,” BYU athletics said in a statement.

BYU basketball travels to Boston to play No. 3 UConn on Saturday.

Davis is a transfer from Southern Illinois, where he played two seasons.

He started both games he played for BYU this year, averaging 27 minutes a game and nine points.
