BYU-Utah rivalry game gets a prime-time slot. Kickoff time and TV details were just announced.

An early rivalry game will be played in prime time.

The BYU-Utah rivalry is coming a little bit earlier in the calendar this season.

And it will be in prime time.

BYU and Utah will play at 6 p.m. MT on Oct. 18, the U. announced on Monday. The game will be broadcast on Fox.

The Cougars are currently undefeated, 5-0, and Utah is 4-1.

Both teams play this week before the rivalry. BYU travels to face the Arizona Wildcats and Utah will see Arizona State at home.

BYU hasn’t lost to Utah since 2019, a 30-12 defeat in Provo. It won the last two meetings. Last year, former quarterback Jake Retzlaff led a two-minute drive to complete a comeback and win 22-21.

This year’s iteration of the game will be at LaVell Edwards Stadium in Provo.

BYU-Utah last met in Provo in 2021 when Jaren Hall was the Cougars’ quarterback. The Cougars won 26-17.

There is turnover at key spots on both rosters from a year ago. Both teams have new quarterbacks, Bear Bachmeier and Devon Dampier.
