BYU has its bowl game destination, and will face a potential Heisman Trophy candidate

BYU will play on Dec. 28 in the Alamo Bowl.

(Bethany Baker | The Salt Lake Tribune) Brigham Young Cougars sing with their fans after the loss against the Kansas Jayhawks in Provo on Sunday, Nov. 17, 2024.

BYU has its postseason destination set.

The Cougars will end their season in San Antonio playing Colorado for the Alamo Bowl.

The game will take place on Dec. 28 at 5:30 p.m. MT on ABC.

Although it is a rare in-conference matchup, Colorado counts as an old Pac-12 team for this year’s bowl tie-ins. So newly extended head coach Kalani Sitake will see one of the most polarizing coaches in the sport, Deion Sanders.

The Buffaloes roll into Texas with a Heisman Trophy contender, Travis Hunter, and a top-NFL draft prospect, quarterback Shedeur Sanders.

There’s a bit of irony to this matchup too. BYU knocked Colorado out of the Big 12 title game last week by beating Houston in the final regular season game.

BYU finished the regular season 10-2, with two losses in November. It lost to the eventual Big 12 champion, ASU, and Kansas. Colorado also lost to the Jayhawks in November, which derailed its bid for the College Football Playoff.
