Former BYU quarterback Jaren Hall’s first NFL start has been cut short by a concussion.

The Minnesota Vikings QB was hit hard as he ran toward the goal line during a first-quarter drive and had to be helped off the field. Hall was quickly ruled out for the rest of Sunday’s game against the Atlanta Falcons.

Starting in place of the injured Kirk Cousins, Hall looked sharp in his first action as a starter. He completed five of his six pass attempts for 78 yards, including a 47-yard completion to running back Alexander Mattison. Hall also rushed for 11 yards.

Hall, 25, was taken in the fifth round of this year’s NFL draft. Last season, as a junior at BYU, he threw for 3,171 yards and 31 touchdowns.
