Another one of BYU’s former Mountain West Conference football foes is back on the Cougars’ future schedule.

BYU and Wyoming announced Tuesday that they have agreed to a home-and-home football series, with the first game in Provo on Sept. 24, 2022 and the second game in Laramie on Sept. 28, 2024.

The 2022 game will be the first regular-season matchup between the former conference opponents since BYU left the MWC after the 2010 season. The Cougars and Cowboys met in the now-defunct Poinsettia Bowl in San Diego in 2016, with BYU prevailing 24-21.

BYU is 45-30-3 all-time against Wyoming in a series that began in 1922. Only Colorado State (109 meetings) and Utah (83 meetings) have played Wyoming more than BYU (78 meetings).

The Cougars’ 2022 schedule now includes nine games. BYU is also scheduled to host Baylor (Sept. 10), Utah State (Sept. 30) and East Carolina (Oct. 15) that year. BYU will travel to Utah (Sept. 3), Oregon (Sept. 17), Liberty (Oct. 22), Boise State (Nov. 5) and Stanford (Nov. 26) in 2022.

Wyoming opened its 2018 season last week with a 29-7 win at New Mexico State. BYU opens its season on Saturday at Arizona.
