Gary Brown doubled home the go-ahead runs in the seventh inning Monday night and Salt Lake defeated Tacoma, 6-5. In front of 9,965 fans at Smith's Ballpark, the Bees opened their final home stand of the season by rallying from an early four-run deficit.

Turning Point • After allowing two homers during a four-run first inning, Salt Lake starter Drew Rucinski settled down. He scattered three hits over four straight scoreless innings and allowed the Bees to get back in the game.

Bees MVP • Catcher Stephen McGee went 2-for-4, including a two-run double in the second inning and a single that triggered Salt Lake's three-run seventh. Since being called up from Class A Inland Empire on Aug. 21, McGee is 7-for-14 with four RBIs.

Hidden Hero • When Rucinski fanned Chris Taylor in the first inning, Salt Lake set a franchise record for single-season strike outs (1,067). The previous record was set by a staff that featured future big leaguers John Lackey and Francisco Rodriguez in 2002.

Flashing Leather • With runners on first and third and one out in the fifth, Tacoma's Jabari Blash hit a hard ground ball up the middle. Salt Lake shortstop Angel Rosa made a reaching stop and turned an RBI single into an inning-ending double play.

Quoteworthy • "Been working with Johnny relentlessly every day — using his teaching and putting it into the game and it's paying off for me."

Angel Angle • The Angels' David Freese, Collin Cowgill, Taylor Featherston and Matt Joyce have apparently finished their injury rehab assignments in Salt Lake. None of them played in the win. Cowgill had the most productive stint with the Bees. He hit .364 in 12 games.

history lesson • On Aug. 31, 2005, Salt Lake rallied from a four-run deficit in the eighth inning and defeated Colorado Springs, 6-5. Alberto Callaspo's two-run single helped the Stingers to the 900th win in franchise history.
