The game • Iowa's Adron Chambers hit a two-run homer Saturday night and the Cubs rallied for a 3-1 victory over Salt Lake. In front of 15,403 fans at sold-out Smith's Ballpark, Bees' pitcher Matt Shoemaker suffered the loss in his first start since being sent down by the Los Angeles Angels.

Turning Point • Salt Lake owned a 1-0 lead and Shoemaker retired the first two batters in the top of the sixth. But Mike Olt doubled on a 1-2 pitch and scored when Bees' right fielder Alfredo Marte dropped Mike Baxter's long fly. Chambers followed with his tie-breaking homer.

Bees MVP • Shoemaker pitched well. He allowed three unearned runs on five hits in six innings. He struck out five and walked two. He threw 97 pitches, partly because he had to work around four Salt Lake errors.

Hidden Hero • Salt Lake second baseman Alex Yarbrough went 1-for-4 with an RBI single in the third. He finished 8-for-25 with five walks on Salt Lake's eight-game home stand.

Flashing Leather • With runners on first and second and one out in the second inning, Salt Lake first baseman Efren Navarro saved a run with a spectacular diving stop on Chambers' hard ground ball that was headed for right field.

Quoteworthy • "… It happens sometimes." — Shoemaker, on the error that prolonged Iowa's three-run sixth inning.

Angel Angle • The Angels have recalled infielder-outfielder Grant Green. To replace him on the roster, shortstop Angel Rojas was called up from Class A Inland Empire. This is Green's fourth call-up of the season. He's hitting .306 with the Bees, including .342 since the All-Star break.

History Lesson • On Aug. 22, 1997, Travis Baptist pitched a four-hitter to lead Salt Lake to a 4-0 victory over Albuquerque. It was the 300th win in franchise history. David Ortiz drove in two runs for the Buzz.

Next Up • Salt Lake (Tyler DeLoach, 1-4) at Round Rock (Nick Martinez, 0-1), Sunday, 5:05 p.m. MDT. TV: none. Radio: 1280-AM.
