Utah Hockey Club made one of the biggest trades of the NHL offseason, acquiring defenseman Mikhail Sergachev from Tampa Bay on Saturday.

Sergachev, 26, is a two-time Stanley Cup winner. He had two goals and 17 assists last season, during a campaign interrupted by a knee injury.

Utah gave up defenseman J.J. Moser, forward Conor Geekie, a seventh-round pick in this year’s draft and a second-round pick in next year’s draft, according to NHL.com.

The move came as a surprise to NHL insiders.

Utah HC didn’t stop there, however. The team on Saturday also traded for former New Jersey defenseman John Marino, giving up two draft picks in the process.

Marino had four goals and 21 assists for the Devils last season.

Utah Hockey Club’s weekend started with two first-round picks in the NHL draft on Friday. The team selected Tij Iginla with the sixth-overall pick, before trading back into the first round for center Cole Beaudoin.
