The BYU women’s soccer team is now ranked No. 1 in the nation for the first time in program history.

Currently undefeated with a 6-0 record, the Cougars received all eight of the first-place votes in the United Soccer Coaches poll. Prior to this, BYU’s highest ranking was No. 2 following their loss against Florida State in the 2021 NCAA College Cup Championship match.

This ranking follows a series of dominant victories, including a 3-1 win against the previously No.1 UCLA Bruins on Aug. 31. The team followed that performance with a victory against rival Utah Valley University, where the Cougars scored a season-high six goals.

BYU will play its final non-conference game against the University of Utah at Ute field on Saturday, Sept. 9 at 7 p.m. Big 12 competition will kick off for the Cougars on Sept. 14 when they host the TCU Horned Frogs.
