Utah women’s basketball team’s rally falls short against Oregon State

Beavers hit late free throws to hold off Utes, 84-74

Trailing by as many as 19 in the third quarter, the University of Utah women’s basketball team rallied back to within two in the fourth quarter on the heels of a 27-point game from sophomore Brynna Maxwell, but Oregon State was still able to escape with an 84-74 win in a Pac-12 game Sunday at the Huntsman Center.

Kemery Martin scored 16 points for Utah (4-10, 3-10 Pac-12) and Dru Gylten added 11.

Aleah Goodman led Oregon State (6-5, 4-5) with 21 points.

Women’s volleyball

The Utah women’s volleyball team improved to 4-0 on the season with a Sunday sweep at Cal in Haas Pavilion in Berkeley, Calif. The Utes won 25-10, 25-16, 28-26.

Kenzie Koerber got the final kill on match point and finished the day with nine kills and one error on 16 attempts, hitting .500 for the match. She also had six digs, 3.0 blocks and a service ace as well.

Utah hit .391 in the match only making nine errors. Saige Ka’aha’aina-Torres guided the offense with 34 assists and also had six digs.

Dani Drews led Utah with 15 kills, hitting .364.
