No. 17 Utah State hosts neighborhood rival Weber State on Friday

Utah State is opening its 2019-20 men’s basketball season with a five-game home stand. Game 2 comes up Friday night when neighboring rival Weber State visits the Smith Spectrum at 7 p.m.

The Aggies were led in scoring, rebounding, assists, steals and blocks by five different players on Tuesday in their 81-73 victory over Montana State in the 2019-20 season opener.

Guard Sam Merrill paced the Aggies with 28 points, while forward Justin Bean led the team in rebounds (10), junior guard Abel Porter led the team in assists (4), senior guard Diogo Brito led the team steals (3) and junior center Kuba Karwowski led the team in blocks (4).

When • Friday, 7 p.m.

Utah State leads the all-time series against the Wildcats, 43-28, including a 25-9 advantage at home. The Aggies have won 10 of the last 11 games in Logan. However, WSU took the last meeting inside the Spectrum, 77-71, on Dec. 21, 2016.

Weber State marks the first of two in-state opponents for the Aggies this season, as Utah State will play BYU at Vivint Smart Home Arena on Dec. 14.
