Utah Royals FC hosts the Chicago Red Stars, at Rio Tinto Stadium in Sandy, Saturday April 14, 2018. Utah Royals head coach Laura Harvey.
Utah Royals FC coach Laura Harvey answered the question on the minds of everyone who has been wondering who will be next coach of the United States Women’s National Team.
The answer: not her.
“I won’t be the women’s national team coach, I can say,” Harvey said after the Royals beat Houston on Saturday.
Harvey walked into the media room and added to her comment, saying her plan is to be in Utah next year.
Harvey has been on the short list of names thought to be in line for the job since Jill Ellis announced her retirement after the USWNT won the 2019 Women’s World Cup. Three of her Royals players — Christen Press, Becky Sauerbrunn and Kelley O’Hara — were on the winning U.S. team.
Reign FC coach Vlatko Andonovski is the other National Women’s Soccer League coach who’s been linked to the USWNT opening.
