Two Utah Royals make preliminary list for Women’s World 11 team

(Trent Nelson | The Salt Lake Tribune) Utah Royals defenders Kelley O'Hara and Becky Sauerbrunn spoke about their World Cup experiences at a news conference in Sandy on Wednesday, July 17, 2019.

Two Utah Royals FC defenders made the list of 55 women’s soccer players who have a chance at being named to the Women’s World 11 team.

Becky Sauerbrunn and Kelley O’Hara, both of whom played on the 2019 Women’s World Cup champion United States Women’s National Team, were selected to the short list, FIFA and FIFPRO announced Wednesday. It’s O’Hara’s first-ever nomination to the Women’s World 11, and Sauerbrunn returns to contention after being left off the list of 55 in 2017.

There was no Women’s World 11 in 2018.

The U.S. has the most total players on the list, with 14 of the 55 players representing the country. England and the Netherlands have the next most with seven each.
