Belgium’s Jasper Philipsen won Stage 4 of the Tour of Utah on Friday in Salt Lake City, edging American Travis McCabe in a photo finish.

Philipsen, 20, riding for Hagens Berman Axeon, claimed his first victory in the United States, finishing in 2 hours and 35 seconds. The 68.4-mile course comprised 10 laps around a 6.8-mile downtown circuit for a total elevation gain of 5,500 feet.

McCabe, of the UnitedHealthcare Pro Cycling Team, took second place, a tire-width difference from his third career stage victory in the Tour of Utah. Trek-Segafredo’s Kiel Reijnen, an American who won stages at the event in 2015 and 2016, finished third.

Overall race leader Sepp Kuss (USA) of Team LottoNL-Jumbo finished 10th and retained the yellow jersey. With little change in the overall standings, Kuss continued to hold a 19-second lead over his teammate, Neilson Powless (USA), and a 25-second margin over Tejay van Garderen (USA) of BMC Racing Team.

On Saturday, riders will climb 9,975 feet in Stage 5, traveling from Canyons Village in Park City to Snowbird Resort.
