Ogden • Weber State will retire the jersey of Portland Trail Blazers star Damian Lillard as part of the Weber State Men’s Basketball Alumni Classic on Aug. 26.

Lillard, a two-time NBA All-Star with the Portland Trail Blazers, will participate with many other Wildcat greats at the Alumni Classic at the Dee Events Center. He will play in the shooting stars and 3-point contests, and will serve as one of the coaches during the alumni game.

At halftime of the alumni game, WSU will retire Lillard’s No. 1 jersey.

“It’s an honor to have my jersey retired and to join so many great Weber State players that came before me,” Lillard said in statement. “Although my jersey is being retired for the work I put in during my time as a Wildcat, I couldn’t have been successful without the support of my coaches, teammates and staff.”

Lillard will join Willie Sojourner (1968-71) and Bruce Collins (1976-80) as the only men’s basketball players to have their jerseys retired.
