The best of Utah marathons, the University of Utah Health Salt Lake City Marathon Presented by Bank of America, returns April 23, 2022, bringing athletic and family fun to Salt Lake just in time for spring.

Registration for the marathon is now open, offering seven different events for athletes; a Full Marathon, Half Marathon, 10k, 5k, Bike Tour, 10k Skate and Kids K. It promises to be one of the biggest events for athletes in 2022.

The primary beneficiary, Huntsman Cancer Institute (HCI), will be represented in the marathon by Huntsman Cancer Foundation’s Huntsman Heroes team. The team is open to anyone who wants to train, fundraise, and participate in athletic events to honor and support those who have been affected by cancer. One hundred percent of money raised by Huntsman Heroes goes to HCI.

Over the past decade, the Salt City Lake Marathon Huntsman Heroes team has helped raise over $5 MIL toward this cause.

The 2022 Salt Lake City Marathon promises to be one of the biggest events for families, not just athletes, with a Kids’ K, family activities, and an after party where families can celebrate with their athletes.

2022 Salt Lake City Marathon Information for Athletes

Anyone familiar with Utah running events knows just how incredible the Salt Lake City Marathon is; but if you haven’t experienced it yet, now is your chance!

Whether you’re into full marathons, looking for spring half marathons in 2022, or you just want to walk for the cause, anyone can participate.

Events include a Full Marathon, Half Marathon, 10k, 5k, Bike Tour, a 10k Skate, and even a Kids K. The Full Marathon is also a Boston Marathon qualifier.

This event doesn’t just support Huntsman Cancer Institute’s mission to eradicate cancer—it’s also a beautiful experience for athletes and families alike.

With a gentle course that trails throughout Salt Lake City at the base of the towering Wasatch Mountains, athletes will see incredible views throughout Federal Heights, Temple Square, and Memory Grove.

The route snakes through city streets, cozy neighborhoods, and elegant estates. Racers can enjoy Salt Lake City’s renowned wide streets and the gorgeous views of Sugarhouse and Liberty Park, until the course ends at the Library Square and the heart of downtown.

Each race comes with its own perks and swag, such as one-of-a-kind t-shirts, medals, goody bags, and water and food throughout the race and at the finish line.

In 2019, the event was voted Best Running Event in Utah by Salt Lake City Weekly.

Representatives of the Salt Lake City Marathon are thrilled to bring the marathon back after two challenging years for athletes.

For the convenience of participants, free TRAX/ UTA rides are available, beginning at 4:09 AM the day of the race.Parking can be found at the Salt Palace Convention Center or City Creek. More information on parking is available on the SLC Parking website.

One of the Biggest Salt Lake City Family Activities of 2022

The Salt Lake City Marathon 2022 even promises family fun in SLC for adults and kids of all ages. Some races are even stroller-friendly, making it easy for families to participate with or without their children.

The Kids’ K was started by the University of Utah Health to promote goal-setting and achievement, to fight childhood obesity by teaching the fundamentals of good habits and a healthy lifestyle, and to build children’s self-esteem by providing a basis for lifetime health and fitness habits. Children who participate will receive a Salt Lake City Kids K t-shirt, an award medal, a goody bag, and food at the finish line.

At the close of the Salt Lake City Marathon, there will be a celebration at the downtown Library Square, at 200 East, between 400 South and 500 South. There will be plenty of fun for adults and children alike, including interactive exhibits, food, and lots of celebration and cheer for the athletes.

Families can meet with their athletes and celebrate with a beer garden, live music, free swag, fun kids’ activities, all in one giant after party.

The Quality of Life Expo is a pre-party at the Salt Palace on Friday, April 22nd, featuring the latest trends and advances in sports apparel and running shoes. It’s also a great place to learn more about sports, fitness, and nutrition.
