‘Mormon Land’: Researcher explores LDS growth — or, in some cases, the lack of it — in nations Nelson is visiting on his world tour

Russell M. Nelson has set off on his first extended trip since becoming president of the LDS Church. His tour will take him to eight nations in 11 days and will include stops in London, Jerusalem, Kenya, Zimbabwe, India, Thailand and Hong Kong. So how is Mormonism faring in those locales? In some cases, it’s thriving; in others, it’s stagnant.

In the latest edition of “Mormon Land,” independent demographer Matt Martinich, who tracks Mormon growth around the globe for the website cumorah.com and ldschurchgrowth.blogspot.com examines the status of the LDS Church in the countries on Nelson’s itinerary.
