Global Mormon membership exceeds 16 million

Global membership of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has topped 16 million.

Traditionally, Mormon statistics were reported in the Saturday afternoon session of the spring General Conference. This time, those figures were posted on the church’s website after that session.

Unlike many Christian faiths, LDS Church growth continues and is surging in parts of the world. In other areas, in has flattened out.

Here are key Mormon stats as of Dec. 31, 2017:

• Total membership: 16,118,169.

• Converts baptized during 2017: 233,729.

• New children of record during 2017: 106,771.

• Full-time missionaries: 67,049.

• Congregations (wards and branches): 30,506.

• Temples in operation: 159.
