Letter: Op-ed is a display of breathtaking arrogance

FILE - In this Dec. 14, 2017 file photo, actor David Cross attends the premiere of "The Post " in Washington. The University of Utah says a tweet from Cross showing him wearing undergarments sacred to the Mormon faith was "deeply offensive." President Ruth Watkins resisted online calls to cancel his upcoming performance on campus, saying in a statement on Sunday, Aug. 19, 2018, the photo, intended to promote the show, is protected by the First Amendment. My goodness, Gregory Clark (“Ridiculous, repugnant ideas don't deserve respect,” Tribune, Oct. 10). The arrogance displayed in your op-ed is truly breathtaking! It must be good to be you, right?

I was immediately reminded of a verse from the New Testament, I Corinthians 2:14 (KJV):

"But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned."

A little of the above could also be said to whoever wrote the short introduction of Mr. Clark that appears at the bottom of the op-ed. The reference to drawing pictures of Muhammad and owning no magic underwear were nice additions. Must have made you feel good.

A little humility is a good thing. You ought to try it.
