Two people injured in Ogden apartment fire, others displaced

Two people were taken to hospitals for treatment of injuries suffered in connection with a Tuesday afternoon fire at an Ogden apartment building, officials reported.

Crews from Ogden and Roy fire departments were dispatched at 1:18 p.m. to 2638 Adams Ave., the Ogden Fire Department tweeted.

The blaze — which affected six of the three story building’s 18 units — was out by 1:50 p.m.

Deputy Ogden Fire Chief Eric Bauman said a fire that started in one unit affected five other units. He gave a preliminary damage estimate of $120,000.

Officials were investigating the cause.

Bauman said medical privacy laws prohibited him from giving out any information about the injuries or conditions of the two victims.

The Utah Red Cross — noting that all 18 units were without power — was setting up at the scene to provide assistance to the displaced occupants.

Fire officials initially said one person was injured during the fire, but later said there were two victims.
