We, the people of Utah, have lost control over our elected representatives. They hold closed-door meetings, write laws and pass them without floor debate. They give our tax money to California to build a coal portal when we have only two working coal mines in Utah. They won't fund our education system adequately, which puts us dead last in the United States.
Run for public office. No? How about joining an activist group? By joining a local activist organization, you can increase the strength of your voice 100 times, and you will get to have some input in forming policy for the group. Want to do something about the polluted air we breathe along the Wasatch Front? Try Utah Physicians for a Healthy Environment. Interested in global warming? Look to HEAL Utah. And there are many more local activist groups. You have to do more than just think about becoming a volunteer activist; you must dip your toes in the water, so to speak.
So get off your buns, speak with a strong voice and get busy.
