Letter: Utah high school students’ op-eds were well worth reading. If only the state’s leaders took note.

Thanks to The Tribune for publishing 24 essays by Utah high school students (Opinion section, June 7). The essays were thoughtful and well written. I came away from the lengthy reading session with greater appreciation for the remarkable teachers who guide and encourage those students and thousands like them through similar efforts day after day after day.

How fortunate we are to have such capable and dedicated teachers in our schools.
Sadly, Utah’s self-serving legislators are unlikely to read the essays, let alone provide appropriate funding and support to teachers, administrators and support personnel whose dedication to Utah’s students transform carefree children into thoughtful citizens.
