Letter: Resorting to ‘bathroom humor’ undermines Pat Bagley’s gifts

Pat Bagley | Some Pig

Dear Mr. Bagley:

It deeply saddens me to see you have to resort to “bathroom humor” in many — if not most — of your recent editorial cartoons to get your point across about President Trump in The Salt Lake Tribune. By “bathroom humor,” I mean you’ve used smoke, comment notes, him sitting on a toilet seat, green flatulent and numerous other graphic elements exiting from or pointing to the president’s backside.

Metaphorically, you’re probably correct in conveying your message in that manner, but I think a person with your wit and talent can — and has in the past — get his point across without so much of it coming from Trump’s behind, even though what he says or does often seems to come from there.

Your newspaper and your talent are better than that.
