Letter: ICE in its current guise is unsalvageable and must be abolished

The United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), as it exists today, must be abolished. It has strayed so far from its original mission that as a federal agency it is unsalvageable.

Besides the killings of Renée Good and Alex Pretti, their most recent deplorable action is the policy of labeling peaceful protestors as “domestic terrorists.” We the people will not let ICE claim the right to label anyone who disagrees with their actions a domestic terrorist.

ICE’s collection of personal information on people who peacefully gather to protest the actions of this rogue federal agency must be curtailed. No one should have to worry about their government gathering, saving and then weaponizing their speech and actions against them in their community or workplace.

We the people will not put up with this, and the people’s representatives must do something about it, now. Remember, it was just a short 250 years ago that the people who actually showed up to protest founded this nation.
